I am Kim Cox Owens, a proud native of Atlanta with deep, multi-generational roots in Fayette County. My connection to this community runs deep, shaped by weekends, summers, and holidays spent with my grandparents, witnessing the growth of Peachtree City and Fayetteville. I vividly remember the day my cousin became the first Black student to graduate from McIntosh High School—a milestone that marked the beginning of a new chapter for our community.

As a successful real estate broker, I have a unique understanding of what families seek when they decide to move to Fayette County. This insight is personal to me. As a mother, I experienced firsthand the challenges families face when our children’s needs are not met. My son needed speech therapy, but the services were not available at his school, due to a staff shortage. This fueled my determination to find the best educational environment for him. I discovered Peeples Elementary, then the top-ranked elementary school in Georgia.

Thanks to this decision, my son thrived. He became actively involved in school as a band member, earned the rank of Eagle Scout, and is now pursuing a degree in Computer Science in college. This journey taught me the profound impact a strong school-community relationship can have on a child’s success.

My own educational experience has shown me the power of community support. Through a mentoring program for at-risk students during high school, I gained the confidence to become the first in my family to attend college, earn a degree in Political Science, volunteer in my community and schools, and build 2 successful businesses. This path has prepared me to serve in a political role that will engage our community and enhance our educational culture.

Now, I am ready to take on the role of your District 3 School Board Member. My heart’s desire is to continue the quest for a stronger community and a better educational system. I am asking for YOUR VOTE so that together, we can create the Fayette County that our future inspires us to be—a melting pot of life experiences that will educate our children and engage our community in a rapidly growing global environment.
