Kim Cox Owens is a proud native of Atlanta with deep family ties to Fayette County. Kim earned her BA in Political Science from Alabama A&M University. Her journey through the public school system gave her a firsthand understanding of the challenges and opportunities in our educational institutions. This unique perspective fuels her unwavering commitment to enhancing public education and strengthening community engagement in Fayette County.
Kim's lifelong connection to Fayette County drives her passion for making meaningful improvements in the place she proudly calls home. With over 25 years of dedicated volunteer service across Metro Atlanta, she has consistently demonstrated her commitment to community involvement and leadership. From serving on school councils to non-profit boards, Kim has always been a staunch advocate for better educational outcomes and stronger community ties. Her extensive volunteer work is a testament to her ability to build consensus and drive positive change—qualities that make her a formidable candidate for the Fayette County Board of Education.
Beyond her community service, Kim is a successful entrepreneur and the owner of Cox & Company Real Estate, LLC. For 19 years, she has led her business to success, managing a team of 17 agents with exceptional leadership, business acumen, and a relentless work ethic. These skills, honed in the competitive real estate industry, are directly transferable to public office, where Kim will work tirelessly to achieve the best outcomes for Fayette County schools.
As a mother of two children who graduated from Starr's Mill High School, Kim understands the challenges and triumphs faced by families in our community. This personal experience inspired her to establish the Family and Community Engagement Society, a company dedicated to fostering stronger relationships between families, schools, and communities. Through this initiative, Kim has been instrumental in creating new partnerships and cultivating a thriving school culture, making her an ideal advocate for students and parents alike.
